Not seeing the Liu SanJie Impressions light show is easy to do with all the cafe’s and bars in Yangshuo but this would be a mistake as you would be missing this extraordinary visual spectacle from the director of the Beijing Olympic opening ceremony, Zhang Yimou.

Li River cruises down to the relaxed hangout of Yangshuo. It is also possible to watch Cormorant Fishing on the river.
Elephant Trunk Hill is named after the rock formation that looks like an elephant taking a drink from the river. Puxian Pagoda and Water Moon Cave are also popular in this area.
Reed Flute Cave is a mass of stalactites and ‘mites all lit up in spectacular fashion.
Once in Yangshuo you will find yourself torn between exploring the local area by boat, bicycle or on foot and spending time in relaxing bars and restaurants.
Popular side trips are the rice terraces at Longji, bamboo rafting down the Yulong River or hiking up to Moon Hill.
The Yangshuo Liu San Jie Impressions light show utilising 600 dancers and using the mountains as a backdrop is not to be missed.
