The Tsars Gold private train has 5 categories of cabin ranging from Category I consisting of 4 berth cabins little different to those on good Trans-Siberian public trains to luxury cabins with ensuite facilities such as the Category IV Bolshoi and V Bolshoi Platinum. In between is the popular Category III Nostalgic Comfort and a range of cabins – Classic, Superior and superior Plus – in Category II. Additional classes used just on the Silk Road trips can also be viewed towards the bottom of the page.

Category V - Bolshoi Platinum

Category V - Bolshoi Platinum CABINS

This category is the pinnacle of luxury on the Tsars Gold and you should be booked as far in advance as possible. Cabins are two berth with one lower berth of 184 x 120 cm and one upper berth of 174 x 82 cm. The cabin size is 77 square feet / 7.15 square meters and each carriage only has 5 cabins of this class. Each cabin has its own ensuite bathroom containing a toilet, basin and separate shower cabin. In addition cabins have remote controlled air conditioning, DVD / CD player, wardrobes for storage and a small couch. This class has its own dining car and choice of 2 main courses during lunch and dinner.

Category IV - Bolshoi

Category IV - Bolshoi CABINS

These luxury cabins have 2 berths, one upper 174 x 80 cm and one lower 184 x 110 cm and are 60 square feet / 5.57 square meters with an ensuite bathroom containing a toilet, basin and integrated shower with a curtain. Each Bolshoi class carriage has 6 of these cabins and clients dine in their own dining car (shared with Bolshoi Platinum cabin members) with a choice of 2 main courses during lunch and dinner. In addition, each cabin has remote controlled air conditioning, small wardrobes for storage, DVD / CD player and a small couch. There are a limited number of these cabins so booking as early as possible is advised.

Category III - NOSTALGIC COMFORT

Category III - NOSTALGIC COMFORT CABINS

This popular category consists of compartments with modern facilities yet beautifully decorated to give the feeling of a bygone era of luxury rail travel. Compartments are 43 square feet / 4 meters squared. There are two berths, one upper and one lower (both 185 x 80 cm), with the upper berth able to be fold up when not in use. Your compartment shares a basic shower and basin with an adjacent compartment. Shared toilets are located at both ends of the carriage. In addition each cabin has their own air-conditioning controls, luggage storage under the bed and a small armchair.

Category II - CLASSIC | SUPERIOR

Category II - Classic, Superior & Superior Plus

Category II is divided into three variants, Classic, Superior and Superior plus, the latter only available for group bookings. All three cabins are the same size and have two adjacent berths (Classic 187 x 68cm / Superior 185 x 68 cm / Superior Plus 185 x 63 cm). Classic and Superior cabins have a table, luggage storage above the door, centrally controlled air-conditioning and shared toilet facilities at the end of each carriage. Clients also have access to shower facilities elsewhere on the train.

The difference between these cabins is that superior was more recently refurbished. Superior Plus cabins differ from the other category II cabins by having their own exclusive shower cabin (note, not in the sleeping cabins themselves).

Category I - STANDARD CLASS

CATEGORY I - STANDARD CLASS

These are four berth cabins with 2 upper and 2 lower beds all 187 x 86 cm in size. Cabins are unisex. There is storage under the lower bunks and in a compartment above the cabin’s door. The cabins are heated and air-conditioned centrally and there is a small table below the window. Each carriage has combined washing and toilet facilities at each end of the carriage. Minimum number of clients travelling together is 3 (in which case clients need to buy the 4th berth as well). Cabins not available for 1 or 2 person occupancy.

SILK ROAD TOUR CABINS

Category Kalif

The Orient Silk Road Express’ grandest accommodation. The Kalif category features two beds, upper and lower (31.6 × 68.5 in/80 × 174 cm and 44 × 72.4 in/112 × 184 cm). Each compartment includes a closet, safe and private bathroom with a separate shower cabin. Each car in this category is limited to four compartments and a maximum of just eight guests.

Category Sultan

This category features two beds, upper and lower (31.6 × 68.5 in/80 × 174 cm and 43.3 × 72.4 in/110 × 184 cm) These compartments also offer comfortable seating, a larger table and a small closet. Each room has its own private bathroom, complete with integrated shower. The cars in this category are comprised of just six compartments.

Category Aladdin

This category features two lower beds (27.5 × 74.8 in/67 × 184 cm each), a small table and storage space. Each car has eight compartments and a shower, together with washroom facilities at both ends. Guests in this category also receive one bathrobe per compartment.

Category Ali Baba

This compartment has two lower berths (27.5 × 74.8 in/67 × 184 cm each), as well as a table and additional storage space. Each car has nine compartments, with washroom facilities at both ends.

Category Habibi

This compartment has sleeping berths (26.4 × 72.4 in /67 × 184cm) for up to four guests. A table near the window separates lower and upper berths on either side. Each car has nine compartments, with washroom facilities at both ends.
